Contemporary music practices with new technologies, instruments, and media

Design and the Arts, Herberger Institute for

Arts and Culture

How do new technologies, media, instruments, and interfaces impact and contribute to contemporary musical engagement and practices? Students would work with, play, and analyze new technologies ranging from digital DJ equpipment to music software and video games to better understand their corresponding techniques and potential for musical engagement. You will also develop and curate resources related to these technologies, media, instruments, and interfaces to be used by music educators and young people. You may have opportunities to work with local music educators, K-12 students, musicians, and/or after-school programs connected to this module of the Consortium for Digital, Popular, and Participatory Culture in Music Education @ ASU.
